"The Outer Room " brings together my depictions of nature, animals, people, and places that have shaped my life.
My works move between Denmark and Brazil, between the immediate and the observed. Through painting, drawing, and mixed media, I explore the relationship between humans, nature, and the traces we leave behind in the world around us.
Portraits
My portraits vary in technique and style, depending on what I want to convey.
Portraiture plays a central role in my work. I often spend a long time working on the proportions, expression, and character of the face in order to capture both the person’s physical features and their presence.
Line Young has a more experimental approach, combining oil with shoe polish to create a sharper contrast and a more direct color effect.
Each portrait is an exploration of light, form, and personality in interaction with the subject.
DANISH NATURE
I draw my inspiration from Danish nature, especially Amager and Kalvebod Commons, where endangered biodiversity is a recurring theme in my artworks. During the isolation of the pandemic, I found peace in the birds and in the open landscape of the Commons, but also a sense of sadness over the buildings that are gradually taking over the wild terrain.
I work with alcohol ink, where hyperrealistic eyes meet dissolving surroundings. I portray birds, insects, mammals, and reptiles, focusing on their beauty, vulnerability, and history.

In my Monotypings , I Monotypings with botanical prints created from wild and cultivated plants from Kalvebod Commons, Amager, and my own garden. The plants’ shapes, patterns, and organic structures hover between the recognizable and the abstract.
The series ranges from scenes of nature in winter slumber to more color-saturated and graphic artworks. All Monotypings created using acrylics and botanical prints on Clairefontaine Multi-Techniques paper.
Other animals
Observations and stories in which gaze, symbolism, and personality take center stage. Here you’ll encounter Nordic animals in drawings, as well as a commissioned piece by one of my dog-loving friends.
Brasiliansk Natur
Birds and nature from the country where I was born and from my farm—a natural world to which I have a strong connection. The birds are drawn in colored pencil and watercolor, a technique I used before I discovered alcohol ink, and can be seen as a prelude to my many animal paintings.
"Bromelia" is from an earlier period, 2004, when I was working with oil on canvas.
Stilleben
The collage series *Still Life* is a reinterpretation of the classical genre, inspired by Rembrandt’s still lifes and created for an exhibition in Marseille. Discarded paper is transformed into colors, almost as if painting with paper. From a distance, the works appear almost photographic, but up close, the transformation of the used material into something new is revealed.
