Seeing art through Deep Looking

Most people spend less than eight seconds looking at a work of art. Eight seconds. Then they move on.
What if you stayed?
Deep Looking is not about knowing more. It’s about seeing more. And it starts with five simple moves that anyone can learn – and nobody can unlearn.

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you {{see more in any work of art}}:
Step 1: Stop. Choose one work – and stay with it.
Step 2: Describe what you see before you interpret what it means.
Step 3: Move closer. Find the brushstrokes, the layers, the decisions.
Step 4: Notice what your body feels before your brain starts explaining.
Step 5: Ask what’s missing. Every artwork is also a choice about what to leave out.
This is used by artists, collectors, and complete beginners – and it changes how they look at everything.
