About the Work

"Mirror Dissonance " captures the emotional tension between one’s self-perception and reality. The painting depicts a woman looking at herself in the mirror—her reflection appears overweight and sad.

The artwork draws on a traditional physical painting in terms of texture, brushstrokes, and a color palette ranging from light yellow to dark green (almost black), with vibrant orange and red details. The dramatic lighting, inspired by Renaissance art, enhances the work’s emotional depth.

Through this work, I explore my own journey toward overcoming a distorted self-image. Once unable to see myself clearly, I now confront this struggle from a place of healing, where emotions have been distanced and my perspective has become intellectual. *Mirror Dissonance* invites the viewer to reflect on their own self-image and serves as both a personal and universal commentary on body image.
